Iowa library thinks local for music
I love it when libraries think outside the box. The Iowa City Public Library decided to stop shipping their music money out to the world and start concentrating on local performers. Bonus: all digital so no plastics being used.

A good enough tune can save a piece of wilderness
Jay Ungar wrote "Ashokan Farewell." Ken Burns put it in a documentary on the Civil War. Governor George Pataki was inspired to save the piece of land that inspired the tune. Read all about it.
